GREYLINE: IF VANITY FADES
Description
Greyline asked me to create a music video for their 12" split EP "Epidemic Of The Forked Tongue. I looked for inspiration in photographic portraits of laborers from the beginning of the 19th century. The plan was to film the entire project in black and white, but during the editing process we brought back the color. The result: a rough and tough music video infused with an explosion of color.

WHEN WE ARE WILD: SCUSE ME
A music video I made for songwriter Hille Stellingewerf. While experimenting with high-speed filming we tried to make optimal use of the natural weather conditions we had that day. While being quite challenging, the real rain, lighting and wind give this video an honest, realistic feeling.

NIGHTINGALE EXPRESS
In this project, music from the Dutch band A Liquid Landscape was complemented by different forms of visual interpretation. The project has two aspects to it.
The first part of the project consists of a short film that accompanied the concept album. It was released on the 24th of september 2011. The album was released on the 20th of january 2012. The film is a concrete visualization of the music's narrative. Similar to the film and cd, we did performances where live music was accompanied by live VJ-ing of visuals from the film. This made for an enthralling audiovisual experience, enveloping it's audiences.
The second part consists of the album artwork. This, again, ties in to the bigger picture. It's static visuals bridge the gap between the music, film and live performances. It was the last piece of the puzzle.

PIONEERS OF LOVE: FEAR OF HEIGHTS
This music video was created for the Dutch band 'Pioneers of Love'. The band asked for something visually stunning with impressive landscapes, without losing focus of the band as it's center-piece. We chose to go to the Swiss Alps and shot the video there in three days. Even though it is a very beautiful place, the locations we used were hard to reach, at an altitude of 3000 meters, making the shoot challenging at times. In the end we managed to get to several beautiful locations, including a green valley, mountainsides and even a glacier including waterfalls.

Bliksem & Betonrot is a documentary about a poet's society called "De Dichters van Epipbreren" (The Poets from Epipbreren) from Groningen, who roamed all through the Netherlands with a combination of music and poetry. Directors Regina Broersma and René Duursma underline the significance of this collective of northern poets by means of a series of interviews, archive footage and several performances filmed exclusively for this documentary.

ELEMENTS
BeMedia asked me to design some movie-like visuals for the entrance at the Philips Consumer Lifestyle Building in Drachten (NL). The visuals are shown on 12 full HD screens which are embedded in the wall. I teamed up with Janine van Veen who came up with the Elements-concept. What started out as a simple project slowly grew to a massive undertaking.
In the end we managed to produce about 30 minutes of usable material which included super-slowmotion and underwater footage. All footage was shot in full HD. Below you can find an impression of the project with audio (this version was also used in the 'Aqua Luma project'). The entrance-version at the Philips Consumer Lifestyle Building has no audio and has a longer runtime.
